Benefits Overview

At Command Alkon, we understand that life does not always revolve around work.  We continue to provide programs that promote a work/life balance.  Command Alkon strives to be an employer of choice and offers a comprehensive benefit package that meets the needs of our employees.  Our benefits help satisfy an array of needs at any stage in an employee's life.  This competitive benefit package includes medical and dental plans, a paid time off plan, a 401(k) plan, tuition/education reimbursement, profit sharing and a variety of employee recognition programs.

      Paid Time Off (PTO)

Employees are given a bank of days to be used at their discretion.  Depending on length of employment with the company, employees will receive 16, 21 or 26 days annually.

      Holidays

In addition to paid time off, Command Alkon observes 9 days of holidays within the calendar year. Full-time regular and part-time regular employees are eligible for holiday pay.

      Credit Union

Command Alkon employees are given the opportunity to become members of a Community Credit Union.  Some of the benefits include free checking/Visa card, great deals on all types of loans, financial planning services and savings plans.

      Healthcare, Disability and Life Insurance

Command Alkon offers medical insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield and dental insurance through United Concordia. Employees are eligible for life insurance in an amount equal to twice their basic annual salary, up to $300,000. Employees also receive short and long-term disability coverage. Command Alkon pays 100 percent of the life insurance, long term and short term disability premiums.

      Flexible Spending Account Plans

This program includes valuable features that offer employees significant tax advantages. Employees can participate in two types of accounts, either an FSA Dependent Care Account or an FSA Health Care Account. The Dependent Care FSA provides a tax-advantage way for employees to pay for dependent care expenses that are not reimbursed by benefit plans. The Health Care FSA is designed to reimburse employees for out-of-pocket health care expenses incurred by themselves or eligible dependents. Tax savings effectively reduce the cost for these goods and services.

      401 (k) Savings Plan

Command Alkon offers a 401(k) savings plan to any employee who is 21 years of age. Employees may enroll on the first day of the quarter following thirty days of employment.

Employees may contribute up to the annual government limit of their compensation.  Command Alkon currently makes a discretionary matching contribution of 25% of the first 15% deferred for those employees with at least 1 year of qualifying service. Employees are 100% vested after 6 years of service.

      Fitness & Recreation

Command Alkon Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham offer employees a relaxing, lakefront and wooded area ideal for walks, fishing and picnics. The building has a state-of-the-art nautilus facility free of charge to tenant employees. Personal fitness trainers are available for a fee should you feel the need to begin a monitored exercise regimen. A company co-ed softball team, company sponsored lunches, ping-pong tournaments and football parties are some of the additional benefits available to employees.

      President's Club

The President’s Club is a company wide program designed to honor performance excellence for selected individuals. All employees are eligible to receive the honor of becoming a member to the President’s Club. The only qualification is that an employee has to have completed six full months of service for Command Alkon during the calendar year.

A President’s Club member is an employee who has made significant contributions to Command Alkon during the calendar year. Employees are nominated by their peers. The Club will take members on an award trip to acknowledge the selected employees for an exceptional job well done.
